Happy Holidays friends! 2023 is right around the corner (can you believe it?!). Well I, for one, am welcoming 2023 with open arms. Both literally and metaphorically. For me personally, the past few years have been a constant source of change, but with little time to reflect.
Throughout the global pandemic and new challenges faced by all, I was fortunate to have my business grow exponentially. Of course, growth is what we all want, especially in a business. But I was never able to take a step back to really “see” what was happening, make sense of it all–and create a plan of action for the future. We were growing with the market but it wasn’t clear what direction we were heading. We needed to set clear company goals, own a common vision and point ourselves in the direction of what we do best.
One thing in particular I’ve realized over the past year is how important it is to make time for yourself. Taking a step back to focus on yourself and reflect allows you to see the bigger picture – clearly. With that comes new ideas and a fresh perspective. And allows you to figure out how best to move forward.
In June, my family took a (much needed) family trip to CA… Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, Napa + NorCal. After an incredibly stressful year, I was not only able to appreciate the stunning beauty of these places, but I was also able to figure out how to shut out the noise of the outside world and really think. Mostly about what I wanted. For the first time in a long time. It really gave me some clarity.
My entire career (working for nearly 9 yrs inside businesses and nearly 10 years as an external consultant partnering with many different tech companies) has been focused on improvements around operations, process and technology initiatives to support revenue teams. There just wasn’t always a name for it (now more widely known as RevOps). When someone unfamiliar with the tech world asked me what I did for a living, it was always a little difficult for me to explain.
Until now. What’s interesting is the approach to look at the revenue process holistically and unify all these teams and systems is now trending and growing in the market with RevOps methodology. This is actually the strategy I’ve imposed throughout my career working with sales, marketing, operations and finance leaders, and this is the direction we need to be focused on for our own growth and to deliver incremental value to our clients and partners.
What I needed was an experienced, strategic counterpart to really help me solidify the vision and direction of this business. And who better to do this than my own personal mentor, Summer Benish.
Summer is a results-driven revenue and GTM strategy executive with over 20 years of experience in fast paced, high-tech environments. I’ve worked with Summer for 15 years, both inside the business as well as an external consulting partner. With our combined executive leadership experience and certified-technology expertise, we make an amazing team– successfully launching new RevOps strategies and systems for rapidly growing organizations. Besides being an incredibly talented, strong woman, she’s a great friend. And so FUN! When work is fun, you know you are with the right people 😉
Throughout her career, Summer has proven success in translating business and growth strategies into revenue by building, aligning, managing and mentoring unified, cross-functional sales, marketing and business operations organizations, developing go-to-market plans, creating standard business processes, implementing, supporting tech infrastructure, establishing strategic partner relationships, and achieving company revenue and growth goals through direct and multi-tier distribution channels.
And I am so proud to introduce her to you and honored to officially call her my partner. Expect to see more from her in the coming weeks. Great things ahead. Change is GOOD my friends!
Cheers to 2023! We are ready for you. Hope you are ready for us 😉
